Introduction

You’ve probably heard how competitive U.S. college sports can be—and how getting recruited as an international athlete takes more than just talent. If you’re serious about securing a scholarship and playing college football in the U.S., it’s time to go beyond general advice.

This guide walks you through exactly what to do at every step, from early preparation to final offers. Whether you’re 15 and starting to build your profile, or 18 and hoping it’s not too late—we’ll show you how to make the most of your time, your talent, and your opportunities.

And most importantly, you’ll see how BaltixSport helps you through every part of this journey.

The Ideal U.S. College Sports Recruitment Timeline

Note: While U.S. students follow the “9th–12th grade” or “freshman year to senior year” system, we’ll include age ranges to make it easier to align with the Baltic school system.

Ages 14–15 (9th Grade/Freshman Year)

  • Begin researching the U.S. college system (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA).
  • Focus on building strong academic habits—grades matter.
  • Join competitive club or academy teams.
  • Start filming full match footage.

Ages 15–16 (10th Grade/Sophomore Year)

  • Create your first highlight video.
  • Begin building your student-athlete CV.
  • Start following college teams on social media.
  • Learn about the NCAA recruiting calendar.

Ages 16–17 (11th Grade/Junior Year)

  • Get serious about outreach: start emailing coaches.
  • Use recruiting platforms or agencies to gain visibility.
  • Take standardized tests (TOEFL, SAT/ACT if needed).
  • Consider attending camps or showcases.
  • Work on strengthening your highlight video.

Ages 17–18 (12th Grade/Senior Year)

  • Continue contacting coaches and narrowing down your options.
  • Submit applications to universities.
  • Secure scholarship offers.
  • Finalize school choice and begin preparing visa paperwork.

Note: NCAA Division I and II have stricter calendars. NAIA and NJCAA tend to offer more flexibility, which is helpful for late bloomers or those unfamiliar with the system.

How BaltixSport Helps You Every Step of the Way

Navigating the U.S. recruitment process is complex—especially from abroad. That’s why BaltixSport offers a structured, step-by-step system to help student-athletes and their families succeed.

Here’s what working with us looks like:

Start Anytime from Age 15 to 22

Whether you’re just starting out or already playing at a competitive level, we can help. The earlier you start, the more time we have to build your visibility and connect with U.S. coaches.

1. Apply to BaltixSport

Fill out our short application and share your football footage. Our team will take it from there.

2. Assessment

We’ll review your video and profile, then provide honest feedback on what level (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA) we think you could realistically compete in.

3. Promotion

Once you’re ready to move forward, we start promoting you to U.S. coaches immediately. We highlight your talent, academic background, and personality—because coaches recruit the full student-athlete.

4. Offers

As offers come in, we guide you through every option. We negotiate on your behalf to help you get the best scholarship deal possible—balancing academics, athletics, and finances.

5. Admin Support

Once you’ve accepted an offer, we handle the behind-the-scenes logistics:

  • Visa support
  • Application translations
  • Admissions paperwork
  • NCAA/NAIA eligibility registration

6. Fly

Get ready to head to the U.S.! We’ll prepare you for your move abroad, from cultural tips to packing lists. This is your moment—and we’ll make sure you’re ready.

7. Live, Play & Learn in the U.S.

Once you arrive, we don’t disappear. We stay in touch with you and your family for your full 2–4 years abroad, helping with anything that comes up along the way.

8. Become a BXS Mentor

After your first year in the U.S., you’re invited to become a mentor for the next class of BaltixSport athletes. Share your experience, support new recruits, and help build a stronger Baltic student-athlete network.

Whether you’re a goalkeeper like our founder Tautvydas or a top-scoring striker, BaltixSport exists to make your U.S. scholarship dream a reality.
